| Campaign for Quiet is a 4-piece power pop rock band out of urban San Diego. Catchy guitars, intense vocals, and a tight rhythm section leave this entertaining foursomes hooks rotating through your head all day long. Being compared to Live, Queens of the Stoneage, Creeper Lagoon and Foo Fighters, these debutantes are full of lust for the club stage and pour an obvious amount of sweat and emotion into their music. | ![]() |
"Outside, the silence is a Welcome Distraction." Rock music has evolved over the last 50 years. While some bands try to recreate sounds or forge completely new territory, Campaign for Quiet seems to do both.
While difficult to compare to the sounds of other bands, they wear their influences on their sleeves and gladly fall in a genre that needs no further descriptives...ROCK. They are one of the few bands today that can accomplish sweet 4 part harmonies and leave you humming a chorus or hook for days.
Their 2004 debut album, MIDNIGHT ROCK, successfully opened some of the right doors for this quintet, including a nomination for "Best Rock Album" at the 2005 San Diego Music Awards. The late 2005 release, WELCOME DISTRACTION, will continue lead these gentlemen of rock into the 2006 season with extensive touring and the loyalty of a constantly growing fan base.

June Meetup -- Kaffee Klatch with Lois McMaster Bujold
Gang -- We have a special treat this month. Lois McMaster Bujold is joining us for lunch at Lunds. Ms. Bujold is the author of over 20 books, including The Warrior's Apprentice (1986), Barrayar (1991), Memory (1996), Komarr (1998), and A Civil Campaign (1999). Much of her work centers around the diplomatic adventures of interstellar troubleshooter Miles Vorkosigan and his parents. More recently she has started two fantasy series, including the novels The Curse of Chalion (2001) and Paladin of Souls (2003), The Sharing Knife: Beguilement (2006) and The Sharing Knife: Legacy (2007). She is the recipient of multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards. Her Web site is www.dendarii.com. Lois is not only a genius, but a warm and wonderful person, too. You don't want to miss this one. Come to take notes or ask questions! Join us in the community room at the Uptown Lunds! New or inactive members, this is a great opportunity to connect or reconnect. If you've had a sale or publication, bring your happy news - - if you've had a crushing rejection, let us commiserate. If you haven't attended a Meetup at this location before, here's the scoop: Lunds in Uptown has a community room upstairs that is quiet, free and has great bus access. Even better yet, it has a fabulous deli but is not a restaurant. So we can brown bag our own lunches or buy a lunch there. The deli selection includes salads, sandwiches, soups and sushi. If you are going to be getting your food from Lunds, please arrive fifteen minutes early to pick out your food before the meeting. - Hmm, Jaye and the rest of the TCSFWN Organizing Team When: Jun 29, 2008 12:00:00 PM Where: Postal code 55401, United States in Minneapolis,Minnesota Posted by:evdb |
