Louis XIV is a Garage Rock quartet group from San Diego, California, formed in April 2003. They were formed from the band Convoy. Their first album, The Best Little Secrets Are Kept, was released in March 2005, following the release of their EP Illegal Tender in January of that year. Their first single was titled "Finding Out True Love IsBlind," and was featured on both the EP and album.
Their music features rough, primal rock and evocative lyrics replete with double entendres. The band released their second single off their debut album entitled "God Killed the Queen" in September of 2005. Their show in Portland, Oregon marked their return to the tour after a short break. On July 14th 2007, they co-headlined a show with She Wants Revenge at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa, California. In 2007, the band composed the theme for the new Flash Gordon television series for SCI FI.
Controversy
The music video for "Paper Doll", taken from the album The Best Little Secrets Are Kept was released exclusively on the alt porn website Suicide Girls. The video, featuring various models in different stages of undress, was directed by alt-porn pioneer Eon McKai, director of Art School Sluts, the Kill Girl Kill series, and Neu Wave Hookers.
