Born in Los Angeles, California Renata now resides in San Diego. Her musical education began with training in concert piano. Her first composition at the age of seven took first in city and second in state in the Reflections Talent Contest. She was nominated 'Best Acoustic Act 2006' by the San Diego Music awards, 'Female Singer-Songwriter of the Year 2006' by the LA Music Awards, and 'Adult Alternative Album of the Year 2005' by the LA music Awards.
Youngblood taught herself guitar with her knowledge of musical theory and ear training. Her finger picking style of guitar playing directly mirrors her skill of piano playing. She is currently being mentored by avid J of Bauhaus on her upcoming record.
Mike Halloran of San Diego's FM 94.9 radio station has said this of Renata, "She sounds as though she has a soul that is 6,000 years old."
