Coors Amphitheatre is located just 17 minutes from downtown San Diego in Chula Vista, California and is the area's first major concert facility designed specifically for music. Coors Amphitheatre is an outdoor performing arts theatre with reserved seating for 9,442 and additional seating for 10,000 on an attractively landscaped lawn. http://www.sandiegocomputerwiz.com/images/Chula-Vista-SDWiz2.jpg

With the opening of this sleek mega-amphitheater, San Diego became a "must play" spot for big acts that previously got no farther south than Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Orange County. Now we only need to drive to the rolling hills of eastern Chula Vista.

The Skinny

And what an impressive venue awaits us. This bad boy cost $20 million to build, and seats 20,000 revelers: half in 65 rows of reserved seating, and half on a spread of grass beyond that. There are no bad seats -- though for up-close-and-personal, TV-style views there are drive-in size video screens on either side of the stage.

Yeah, but is it comfortable?

The seats in the orchestra area are removable fold-outs; those beyond are of the permanent, orange-plastic variety. But they're comfortable, and have all the leg room Wilt Chamberlain could want.

Yeah, but what about the snack stuff?

Cupholders help customers get the most out of their drink investments: Here, a 12 oz. cup of (surprise, surprise) Coors will set you back $4.75. (For that much, shouldn't you get a guy who stands there and holds your cup?) When you've had your fill, more bathrooms await you here than at any other amphitheater in America. Handy when you're dashing out between songs.

Dude, what about the tailgate action?

Barbecuing is permitted (hot coal boxes are provided). The parking lot's no alcohol ordinance is enforced by the Chula Vista Police Department.
