No headersLounge: This bright, comfortable lounge was voted San Diego's best music club in a Union-Tribune reader poll. Large windows offer expansive views of the sparkling marina, while southwestern furnishings and low-glow lighting combine to create an overall '80s atmosphere that's ideal for the mostly 30- and 40-somethings who gather here nightly to enjoy jazz, blues and rock 'n roll.
Monday night DJ Dr. Thrasher spins danceable discs (to a slightly younger-than-usual crowd); Tuesday is "Unplugged Night," where local artists show their acoustic prowess. Wednesday through Saturday nights the dance floor gets packed with baby boomers rockin' out to live funk, soul, and R&B. (Beware, disco-haters: '70s revival bands like regulars Atomic Groove pack the floor with hustlin' baby-boomers.) During Sunday nights' "Lights Out," hosted by jacuzzi jazz champs The Breeze (KIFM), live jazz is presented by the area's hottest jazz bands.
Concerts: From May to October, Humphrey's by the Bay has offered a wide variety of entertainment since 1982. From rock 'n roll to jazz to the occasional comedic legend, this 1,350-seat theater offers attractions suitable for everyone.
